This is a SEMA linear electromagnetic actuator (EMA) performing a simulated thrust vector control sequence. The targeted application is the Crew Launch Vehicle (CLV) upper stage J-2X engine. The CLV is a component of NASA’s Project Constellation. The pan to the right shows the motor hardware and actuator mechanisms. The initial moves are small and not very noticeable, but later in the video the moves really step up. This is an example of a multi-slice SEMA motor. The steady noise you hear is the fan on the monster DC power supply that is powering the actuator.

I’m glad that you did see the movie. Great fun…the movie, that is…I mean, I imagine…I don’t mean imagine…I mean I would suppose, if you were into such toys? Speaking of great, this is a great actuateor concept and design.
It took me a while to get the quote, I’ve seen the movie but translated to another language…it was not that kind of biasing I was thinking about, but that movie was a real fun.

I said I’ve had the same idea about the similarity of this lifter to a sex toy, it was the first thing to come out of my mind seeing the video…I’ve had many good ideas but not this lifter, I was not claiming that…

It is very compact, perfect to lift and move around all those things with no room underneath for a common jack, how heavy is it and how much weight can it lift?
